After years of running miles and miles daily, my level of fitness reached a plateau and then began to decline. I became disillusioned with the sport of running, feeling discouraged by the high effort level that seemed to reap little reward. I remained committed to being active and got involved in other sports and fitness endeavors (Ultimate Frisbee, dance, power yoga, and backpacking). But it wasn’t until discovering CrossFit that being fit really clicked for me. Kelly Starrett, PhD Physical Therapist and CrossFit gym owner, has said that finding CrossFit, “was like discovering the unified field theory of the universe.” I’m a believer. I am in love.
I believe CrossFit can change people’s lives—can lengthen people’s lives. And I’m thrilled and honored by the opportunity to help that happen for others. It might sound mushy or corny but there it is.
