Skill:       Snatch Balance 3x3x3x3x3

WOD:    Death by Clean and Jerk

Good heavy, technical day today.  The snatch balance is great practice “catching” the snatch and getting used to having the load overhead.  It’s not a comfortable position to be in, but it builds super strength and power.  Follow that up with Death by C &J and we’ve hit the oly moves pretty well in one day.  The Clean and Jerk, is a very powerful movement that hits you full body.  The WOD starts off nicely but darkness creeps in quickly if you aren’t prepared.

Today’s effort hits you physically, but really taxes you neurologically.  The movements require a lot of concentration; huge masses of muscle stimulation, quickness, agility and flexibility.  Both of today’s movements are very technical and come with a learning curve.    To most of us, they are new and intimidating.  But they’re extremely valuable.  Don’t get discouraged.  Attack the challenge with excitement and enthusiasm.  Learning a new skill keeps Life fresh.  The athleticism gained from being exposed to, and practicing Olympic movements goes very far.  All of you are on your way to newfound speed, reflexes and strength.  HOO-RAH!

James demonstrates a great Clean and Jerk.
