REST DAY
The strength of the fire within your soul.
I heard that phrase today and it stuck with me, because that’s what it all comes down to, doesn’t it?
The strength of the fire within your soul: at your workout, at your work, at your love, at your life.
CrossFit helps you to find out what that strength is: whether it’s a 5 out of 10, or a 7 . . . or a 3. Whether you have a fighter’s heart . . . or not. And maybe, just maybe, CrossFit can help you get stronger there too, help you learn how to tap into that fire in your soul.
Think about it. When you’re lost somewhere in the middle of a 10-1 ladder in the workout, somewhere around the round of 7, when things get a little blurry and you’re in the middle of the pain sandwich, with some pain behind you and a whole bunch still ahead — somewhere in there, you either find more fire within you or you break. Dig or die. It’s that simple. And all the training in the world doesn’t matter at that point. All the technique. All the coaching. You either do or do not. Yoda CrossFit.
In fact, Yoda would have CrossFitted. (“Elite fitness you are forging.”) Sure, those wall-balls would have been rough (that target is a long way up from .66 meters) but he probably has a damn good squat. The rower might be a challenge too. But something tells me his split jerk would be righteous.
But, mostly, the strength of the fire within his soul would have been indisputable, right?
But enough about Yoda. What’s the strength of the fire within your soul? Ready are you?
