A couple points of interest, attitude and Rx’ing the WOD.
I think Lou Holtz summed it up best. “Your talent determines what you can do. You’re motivation determines how much you are willing to do. Your attitude determines how well you do it.”
Don’t set yourself up for failure before you even begin. We’ve all experienced the feeling of doubt when we walk in the box and see the posted WOD. But it’s important to drown out the negative thoughts with positivity. It’s amazing how a simple adjustment in self-talk and interpretation can drastically change the outcome of your activity, and just maybe the other folks in the room. For example, “I shall do my best.” In place of, “I can’t do that!”
And if you can’t perform the WOD as prescribed, please scale appropriately. There is no shame in the smart play. No shame in honesty and integrity. This applies to the loads, the movements, the time domains and any other requirement of that days’ WOD. If you didn’t do it, then you scaled the WOD. No problem, just hold yourselves to high standards with your personal integrity when counting reps and logging your WODS.
